Mr. Rajasekhar, a close friend of Mr. Jagadeesh Kumar, lost his limbs in an accident. This incident inspired. Mr. Jagadeesh to establish an Artificial Limb Centre in his village Mangalapalem. The centre now provides artificial limbs without the need to travel to Jaipur. It has trained prosthetists and is supported by HPCL CSR funds.
Over a period of 15 years of its eventful existence, the Centre has distributed more than 60,000 Artificial Limbs and aids like Above Knee, Below Knee, Above Elbow, Below Elbow, Polio Caliper, Wheel Chairs, Tri Cycles (both hand operated and battery driven), Blind Sticks, Hearing Aids, Talking Watches, Hand Crutches, and Elbow Crutches free of cost to many, irrespective of caste and creed. The wear and tear of the appliances and limbs and replacement thereof is also taken care of by the Trust free of cost. For Children and Youth who are in the growing stage, the limbs need modification and replacement periodically and, accordingly, limbs are customized and fitted. They are made to stay in the Centre for two days to get themselves familiarized with the new ones. To sum up, the activity of the Trust is a perennial process and every day, on an average 20/30 differently-abled persons visit the Limb Centre. The poor are even paid to and fro travelling expenses and free food and shelter in the premises of the Trust.
The Trust feels that just making the handicapped walk, talk, and hear is not enough. Rather they should be made self-reliant and also be made earning members in their families Towards this, we are in touch with like-minded institutions. We also have plans to set up a small hospital to take care of the medical needs of the surrounding villages and also a Old Age Home. Conducting medical camps in association with the local hospitals in rural and tribal villages is a regular feature. Patrons are most welcome to extend their support in whatever mode they like.
Every year millions suffer from disabilities. There is a growing need to strengthen artificial limb production. Donations to the trust qualify for Income Tax exemption under Section 80G.
MPs, MLAs, Bureaucrats, Judges, Cine Artists, Vice Chancellors, Journalists and Social Workers have visited the trust and participated in its activities. H.H. Swamiji has also blessed the institution.
Feel free to contact us for donations, volunteering, partnerships or any queries.
